CD Art

Standard

A few weeks ago I found an interesting looking craft on StumbleUpon and I posted the link on Twitter. It was CD art. So, I’ve decided to try it out. Check back later and see if I was able to make my own CD art, or if it was just a big mess. I’m a little skeptical of this.

Knit a hat using a round loom

Video

Easy way to knit something using a round loom. You can get a pack of several different sized looms at Wal-Mart for about $13. I also like to pin or clip a flower or bow to my hat to provide a little decoration. Make sure to visit my Instagram and Twitter accounts @craftswithalli to see what projects I am working!

How-to Tip: Create your own photo booth

Standard

Want to make an event fun and cute? Make you own “photo booth.” Find a solid color sheet (black or white is usually the best) and you can either pin it to a curtain, hang it on a wall, or make your own frame using PVC pipes and then hang the sheet up. Next you will want cute props to add some more fun to your photo booth. Find some colorful construction paper and stencil out somethings like a crown or mustache, and then cut the pattern out and glue it to a small dowel rod. Ta Da, you have a photo booth to liven up an event. Image

Foam Photo Board

Standard
You will need any size foam board, batting about two inches longer on all sides than the board, fabric about two inches longer than the board, ribbon, hot glue gun, and buttons.

If you have a large board and want to divide it into two boards you may want to have a yard stick or straight edge and a knife.

I got the large foam board, so I used a sharp knife to cut the board.

Once you have the board the size you want you will need to fix the batting to the correct size (two inches bigger than the board) and then fold the longer edges toward the back of the board and glue those edges.

You will want to first fold the point of the batting and then the two sides to make the corners of the board tight. You will do this to all the corners.

Once you have the batting glued well on the back of the board, then repeat the same steps for your colored fabric. Remember, since you will be adding your favorite pictures, you will want to use a simple patterned fabric or a solid color of fabric.

Tip: You might want to iron the fabric before gluing it to the board.

Next it’s time for the ribbon. Like the fabric you will want to use simple ribbon to not distract from your pictures. You can have as many rows of ribbon as you want, but remember the ribbon will hold the pictures so make sure the rows are not too small.

You will have ribbon diagonally in one direction and then diagonally in the other direction.

Make sure you have enough ribbon. I ran out and Wal-mart did not have anymore of the same kind, so I had to use two different kinds of ribbon.

Finally, it’s time to use those buttons.

I am gluing on the buttons. Remember, hot glue is HOT!

And this is the final product. Time to add pictures!

These are great gifts for any occasion. I made this one for a church bizarre.

Crafts to come

Standard

Later today I will have a new video, pictures, and a step by step how to posted.

Also heres a little info on projects I will be working on and will post on here.

One project to come is how to knit a hat using a round loom. I know the cold weather is just almost done, but as my mom says we haven’t had our “Easter spell,” yet, meaning we usually have one more bout of cold, cold, cold weather before Easter, so this hat may still be useful.

The other project I will be working on posting up here is what I call a “twirly towel”. It is a specially made towel to wrap your wet hair in after getting out of the shower/bath. It helps dry your hair and keeps your wet hair up.

So, make sure to keep checking back, and visit my Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and StumbleUpon accounts to see where I get some of my crafting ideas.
